Brownie Layer

  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 11 Oreos, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper or spray it with cooking spray for easy cleanup.
  2. Make Brownie Batter: Prepare the brownie mix according to package directions. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and press half of the chopped Oreos into the brownie batter evenly.
  3. Bake Brownie Layer: Bake the brownie layer until the top is set but still soft, partially baking since it will bake again with the cheesecake layer. Allow the brownies to cool slightly while preparing the cheesecake layer.
  4. Prepare Cheesecake Mixture: In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with a hand or stand mixer until smooth. Add sugar, egg, and vanilla extract, beating until fully combined. Mix in sour cream until the filling is creamy and free of lumps.
  5. Assemble Cheesecake Layer: Pour the cheesecake mixture evenly over the partially baked brownie base. Spread with a spatula to create a smooth layer.
  6. Bake Combined Layers: Return the pan to the oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, until the edges are firm and the center jiggles slightly but is mostly set.
