These Cinnamon Sugar Cream Cheese Rolls are a delightful treat featuring soft crescent roll dough filled with a creamy, sweetened cream cheese mixture. Coated in a buttery cinnamon sugar crust and baked to golden perfection, they make a perfect breakfast pastry or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 1 package refrigerated crescent roll dough (812 count)

Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Topping

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 tbsp butter (melted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
  2. Make Filling: In a medium bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and creamy, creating a sweet and flavorful filling.
  3. Assemble Rolls: Unroll the crescent dough and place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture at the wide end of each triangular piece. Roll each dough triangle tightly towards the narrow end, tucking in the sides as needed to secure the filling inside.
  4. Coat in Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Brush each rolled-up crescent with melted butter, then roll each one in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated, ensuring a flavorful, crisp crust after baking.
  5. Bake: Arrange the coated rolls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between them. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and puffed up.
  6. Cool & Serve: Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving, as the cream cheese filling will be very hot. Enjoy warm for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • You can substitute the crescent roll dough with puff pastry if preferred.
  • Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened to avoid lumps in the filling.
  • For an extra touch, drizzle with a simple glaze made from powdered sugar and milk after baking.
  • Store leftover rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
  • Reheat gently in the oven or microwave before serving to restore softness.
