Ingredients

Scale

For the Coffee Soak

  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee (or espresso), cooled
  • 2 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional, e.g., Kahlúa)

For the Cream Filling

  • 8 oz mascarpone cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup heavy cream, cold
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For Assembly and Garnish

  • 1215 ladyfinger biscuits (savoiardi), broken to fit cup size
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder (for dusting)
  • Chocolate shavings or coffee beans (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare coffee soak: In a shallow dish, combine the cooled brewed coffee with coffee liqueur if using. This mixture will be used to soak the ladyfinger biscuits, infusing them with coffee flavor.
  2. Make cream filling: Beat the cold heavy cream in a mixing bowl until soft peaks form. In a separate bowl, mix the softened mascarpone cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined and creamy.
  3. Assemble cups: Briefly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Place a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom of each cup, then add a layer of mascarpone cream over them. Repeat layering until the cups are filled, finishing with a layer of cream on top.
  4. Chill: Refrigerate the assembled tiramisu cups for at least 2 to 4 hours, or preferably overnight. This chilling time allows the flavors to meld and the dessert to set properly.
  5. Serve: Just before serving, dust the tops of the tiramisu cups generously with unsweetened cocoa powder. Garnish with chocolate shavings or a single coffee bean on top if desired. Serve chilled and enjoy.

Notes

  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit the coffee liqueur and use additional coffee or espresso.
  • Do not oversoak ladyfingers to prevent them from becoming too soggy and losing structure.
  • Chilling overnight yields the best flavor and texture.
  • You can use whipped cream stabilizer if planning to make ahead for extended storage.
  • For a stronger coffee flavor, use espresso instead of brewed coffee.
