Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 Jalapeno Pepper
  • 1 Clove Garlic (optional)
  • 1 Avocado (about ½ cup after cutting and scooping out the flesh)
  • ¾ cup Cottage Cheese
  • 2 tbsp Lime Juice
  • ½¾ tsp Salt (adjust to taste)
  • ¼ tsp Black Pepper Powder (adjust to taste)
  • ⅛ tsp Cumin Powder

Mix-Ins

  • ¼ cup finely chopped Red Onion or Scallions (red onion used)
  • 23 tbsp Tomato, pulp removed (optional)
  • 4 tbsp chopped Cilantro

Instructions

  1. Prepare Jalapeno and Garlic: Place the jalapeno pepper and optional garlic clove into a food processor bowl. Process for a few seconds until they are finely minced to release their flavors.
  2. Prepare Avocado: Cut the avocado in half by making a cut around the seed. Twist the halves to separate and remove the pit. Scoop out the flesh, measuring approximately half a cup.
  3. Blend Main Ingredients: Add the avocado flesh, cottage cheese, lime juice, salt, black pepper, and cumin powder to the food processor with the jalapeno and garlic. Process until all ingredients are well blended and creamy.
  4. Mix in Fresh Ingredients: Transfer the blended mixture into a serving bowl. Add the finely chopped red onion (or scallions), optional tomato with the pulp removed, and chopped cilantro. Stir gently to combine all ingredients evenly.
  5. Chill and Serve: Chill the dip in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Enjoy it as a dip with tortilla chips or veggies, or spread it on bread as a flavorful and healthy spread.

Notes

  • Adjust the jalapeno quantity according to your desired spice level.
  • Use fresh lime juice for best flavor and brightness.
  • Cottage cheese adds protein and creaminess but can be substituted with Greek yogurt for a different texture.
  • If using tomato, remove all seeds and pulp to avoid excess moisture.
  • The dip can be stored refrigerated for up to 2 days in an airtight container.
