Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp and Aromatics

  • 1 pound large raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon chili flakes (optional)

Rice

  • 1 cup jasmine rice

Creamy Herb Sauce

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped

Instructions

  1. Cook the Rice: Prepare jasmine rice according to package instructions until fully cooked. Once done, fluff the rice with a fork and set aside.
  2. Sauté Garlic: Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute, being careful not to burn it.
  3. Cook the Shrimp: Place the shrimp in the skillet in a single layer. Season with salt, black pepper, and chili flakes if using. Cook the shrimp for 1 to 2 minutes on each side until they turn pink and are just cooked through. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Make the Creamy Herb Sauce: In the same skillet, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine. Add the grated parmesan cheese and whisk continuously until the cheese melts and the sauce is smooth.
  5. Add Fresh Herbs: Stir in the chopped parsley and dill into the creamy sauce. Let the mixture simmer for 2 to 3 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  6. Assemble the Bowl: Spoon the cooked jasmine rice into serving bowls. Pour the creamy herb sauce over the rice and top with the garlic butter shrimp. Garnish with additional fresh herbs if desired.
  7. Serve: Serve immediately while the bowl is hot and creamy for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use fresh herbs for the best flavor, but dried can be substituted with about one-third of the amount.
  • To make this dish lighter, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or milk, but the sauce will be less rich.
  • If you prefer less spice, omit the chili flakes.
  • Ensure shrimp are cooked just until pink to avoid toughness.
  • Leftover creamy sauce can be refrigerated and reheated gently on the stove.
