Ingredients

Scale

Truffle Base

  • 36 pieces Oreo Cookies, crushed (Any chocolate sandwich cookie works if Oreos are unavailable)
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese, softened (Mascarpone can be used for a softer texture)

Coating and Decoration

  • 1 cup Green Candy Melts (Use white chocolate with a few drops of green food coloring if green melts are unavailable)
  • To taste Chocolate Sprinkles (Can be replaced with crushed nuts or festive decorations)
  • 1 pack Wilton Candy Eyes (Small chocolate chips can be used if candy eyes are unavailable)

Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreos: Place the Oreo cookies in a food processor and pulse until they become fine crumbs. Alternatively, put the cookies in a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin until finely ground.
  2. Combine with Cream Cheese: In a large bowl, mix the crushed Oreo crumbs with the softened cream cheese. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is well combined and uniform.
  3. Form the Truffles: Using about a tablespoon of the mixture at a time, roll it into balls and place them on a lined baking sheet. Repeat this process until all the mixture is used.
  4. Chill the Truffles: Place the baking sheet with the formed truffles in the refrigerator and chill for about 30 minutes to allow the truffles to firm up.
  5. Melt the Candy Coating: Melt the green candy melts according to the package instructions until the coating is smooth and ready for dipping.
  6. Dip the Truffles: Using a fork, dip each chilled truffle into the melted green candy coating. Gently tap the fork to remove excess coating from the truffle.
  7. Decorate: While the coating is still wet, place two candy eyes onto each truffle to give them their Grinchy expression, then sprinkle chocolate sprinkles over the top for added decoration.
  8. Set the Coating: Allow the coated truffles to set either at room temperature or in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes until the candy coating is firm and hardened.

Notes

  • If green candy melts are unavailable, substitute with white chocolate and add a few drops of green food coloring.
  • You can replace candy eyes with small chocolate chips or edible googly eyes.
  • Chocolate sprinkles can be swapped out for crushed nuts or other festive decorations.
  • Store leftover truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • For a softer truffle texture, try using mascarpone cheese instead of cream cheese.
  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature to ensure smooth mixing.
