Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 2 cups Long-grain white rice (rinsed)
  • 1 Small white onion (diced)
  • 1 Tbsp Paprika
  • 2 Tbsp Dried parsley
  • 1 Tbsp Garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 4 cups Chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter: In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, melt the butter thoroughly to prepare for toasting the rice.
  2. Browning the rice: Add the rinsed long-grain white rice to the melted butter. Cook and stir continuously for 4-6 minutes until the rice develops a golden brown color, which enhances its nutty flavor.
  3. Add seasonings and onion: Mix in the diced white onion, paprika, dried parsley, garlic powder, and optional red pepper flakes. Stir well to combine all the ingredients evenly.
  4. Add chicken broth and bring to boil: Pour in the chicken broth, stir to mix everything thoroughly, and bring the mixture to a rolling boil over medium-high heat.
  5. Simmer the rice: Reduce heat to low, cover the saucepan with a lid, and let the rice simmer for 22-25 minutes, or until most of the liquid has been absorbed by the rice.
  6. Rest and fluff: Turn off the heat and let the rice rest covered for an additional 5 minutes to finish steaming. Then, uncover and fluff the rice gently with a fork before serving.
  7. Serve and enjoy: Transfer the seasoned rice to a serving dish and enjoy as a delicious side dish to your favorite mains.

Notes

  • Rinse the rice under cold water before cooking to remove excess starch and prevent clumping.
  • Optional red pepper flakes add a mild heat; adjust according to your preference.
  • Use homemade or low-sodium chicken broth to control the saltiness of the dish.
  • Allowing the rice to rest covered after cooking helps achieve a fluffy texture.
  • For a vegetarian version, substitute chicken broth with vegetable broth.
