Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 6 oz white chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream, divided
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar (optional)

For Garnish

  • White chocolate shavings
  • Berries (e.g., raspberries, blueberries)
  • Caramel drizzle

Instructions

  1. Melt the White Chocolate: Heat ¼ cup of heavy cream until warm but not boiling. Pour it over the finely chopped white chocolate and let it sit for 1 minute to soften the chocolate. Stir gently until smooth. If the chocolate hasn’t fully melted, microwave the mixture in 10-second bursts, stirring between each, until silky and fully melted. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.
  2. Whip the Cream: In a chilled mixing bowl, whip the remaining ¾ cup of heavy cream until soft peaks form. Add the vanilla extract and powdered sugar if using. Continue whipping until stiff peaks form, making sure not to overbeat.
  3. Fold It Together: To lighten the chocolate mixture, stir a small spoonful of the whipped cream into the melted chocolate. Then gently fold the remaining whipped cream into the chocolate mixture carefully using a spatula. Fold until just combined to maintain an airy texture.
  4. Chill & Serve: Spoon the mousse into serving glasses or bowls. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set. Before serving, garnish with white chocolate shavings, fresh berries, or a drizzle of caramel for an elegant finish.

Notes

  • Use good quality white chocolate for the best flavor and texture.
  • Chilling the mixing bowl before whipping cream helps achieve better volume and stiffness.
  • Do not overfold the whipped cream into the chocolate to maintain the mousse’s light texture.
  • This mousse can be prepared a day ahead and stored covered in the refrigerator.
  • For variation, try adding a splash of orange liqueur or lemon zest to the chocolate mix for added brightness.
